Run the World

She looked to her left as a boy- Collin, right? -spoke her name. The blonde girl he'd been talking to- Melody had learnt that her name was Kassidy -looked seriously annoyed that the boy was paying attention to anyone but herself.

"Oh... I... I'm fine, thank you..." She didn't want to be the source of any arguments, but it was rather nice to speak to someone. Choosing not to comment on the second half of Collin's statement, Melody returned the pleasantries.

"Eh... So how are you, Collin?" She asked shakily, slightly scared that Kassidy might hex her. She tried not to look like the tension was getting to her, but it was.

Alec shook his head, "Not lonely yet, but thank for your concern. If I ever am, I could always go look for dear Penny."

He looked over at the blonde girl - Kassidy? - and Collin arguing and sighed. "Hate always turns to love," he said loudly.

Kass was still staring at the window. “ Yeah I heard that before.” She then just wondered if they would soon be there. Kass then started to hum to herself. That would pass the time along. She would do anything, Collin was busy flirting with everybody else. Kass would have to find Casey later and tell him everything that happened.

Collin was glad that Melody decided to talk to him, although he could tell that she was a little nervous about Kassidy. It had seemed that Kassidy had already placed her claws into him, and that was just the reason he was acting the way he was. He was not a stake to be claimed.

"I am actually doing just fine, don't mind Kassidy here." Collin smirked and leaned over and whispered to Melody. "I think its just her time of the month." Collin could not help but laugh.

When Alec commented about Love and hate Collin could not help but smirk. "Yeah I know, thats Kass is problem, she loves me already and she hates that she has that feeling."

"Two weeks?" Ninette raised her eyebrow at the boy. "No problem. I don't know what you are going to do that long without me - of course you'll miss me."

The girl eyed the boy as he let out a threatening growl, but shrugged and ignored it. Who cared if Rousseau felt like letting power go to his head. Instead she turned her attention back to Collin.

She smirked slightly as he bantered with the two girls who were neither amusing to torrment or so far shown her anything worth praising, so were thus beneath her notice.

"And how," she asked raising her eyebrow, and fidgeting slightly to make her already admitedly short skirt rid up her leg a little more, "would a girl go about, seeking these qualities?"

Melody smiled at the older boy.
"That's good to hear." She started to feel more confident in herself as she continued to speak, but suddenly found that Collin was at her ear, whispering. She laughed slightly.

"Oh I don't know... I'm afraid I don't know her well enough to judge..." Looking over at the blonde, she shrugged lightly. Kassidy seemed almost jealous of her at that point, and Melody wanted to make it clear that she wasn't flirting, in any sense- merely being polite.

"Ah... So. What book were you reading before you were interrupted?"

"I do, Collin," Julian rolled his eyes, crossing his arms, "I don't even know who this brother of yours is, and if I don't know him, he can't be all that important, can he? And besides, I have connections."

Turning to Blanchard, he shook his head along with him, "The only good thing about that girl is how easy it is to mess with her head."

"Somehow Nine," he grinned at her, "I think I'll be able to manage. There must be some girl in this school who'll be able to fill the void in my heart that you'll leave."

Raising an eyebrow at her, he shook his head softly, leaning closer to her, "Oh how I am going to enjoy watching you destroy this prat."

Here Collin was all worried about not having anyone to talk too, and now he was flirting with so many girls he was having trouble keeping up with what girl wanted to know what but he was working on it. The main thing that was exciting him at the moment was how jealous Kassidy was getting, he was waiting to see if she was going to try and stake that claim directly to the other girls. Oh man did he like to see girls fight over him.

"Well Julian my brothers name is Casey, and you can't miss him her looks just like me. And I can assure you, your connections mean absolutely nothing to me." Collin didn't care who Julian thought he could connect through his brother would get head boy if there was anything he could do about it.

Next he had to smile at Ninette when he noticed what she was doing to try and gain his attention. Interesting girl, not that it was the first time a girl showed him things like that. Glancing down at her ever showing thigh he had to comment. "Well Ninette perhaps a walk with me and some questions answered will be all you need to know."

The Collin turned his attention back to Melody, "It was basically a murder mystery book, it is quite interesting read if you like that sort of thing. So what types of books do you like?"

Kassidy just wanted to leave right now. But she couldn’t just leave. She then remembered that stupid key chain that she loved. Where the thing says let me out of here. Well Kass was feeling that right now. It seemed now everybody was flirting with Collin. And there was nothing that she couldn’t' do. Oh how she was hating this already.

She wanted to smack him even harder for saying that. Kass would do anything then to be stuck in her. She had to find something to do, or Collin was going to drive her crazy. Kass then started to whistle a song. ' 99 bottles of beer on the wall.'

Alec raised an eyebrow at Collin's statement, "And who said I was talking only about her?"

"Oh, but dear Julian," he mimicked the girl's high-pitched voice, "Aren't you just fascinated by her beautiful dresses or the fact that she bows whenever she meets someone? She's such a charming and lovely young lady."

Alec noticed the blondie was trying hard not to smack Collin and smirked. "So Kassidy," he turned his attention to her, "Tell me more about yourself."

Kass then stopped looking out the window. She then turned her attention to Alec. Kass knew that he was going to flirt with her. This was a waste of her time,but she couldn't go anywhere any time soon. So she was stuck in here.

“ Oh the usual. Reading, taking long walks, being outside.”

Running a hand through his hair, Julian shook his head at Collin, "Merlin," he muttered before raising his voice, "I don't care what your brother looks like, his name, or your opinion." God, this kid was annoying, "You can defend your brother to the end of the world, but in the end, it's not your decision which one of us becomes Head Boy."

"Besides," he grinned, rubbing his badge, "You can think of me as terrible, but I'm still the one with the badge, not you."

Snorting at Blanchard, he couldn't help but laugh at him, "Surprisingly Alec," he said with a shake of his head, "I can honestly say that girls that nice and trusting are rather creepy. Fascinating, possibly, but it's much more enjoyable to mess with their heads."

Collin turned his attention and noticed that someone else had decided to talk to Kassidy.

"You might want to be careful Alec, you say hello and she never goes away." Collin could just feel the glares coming from Kass. Actually Collin felt a tug when someone else was giving Kass attention even though he had no right seeing he was flirting with other girls.

Collin was ready to just slap this Julian kid upside the head, he thought he was so special because he had that stupid prefect badge.

"Julian the job of a prefect is to me someone who is nice and the younger kids would want to come too. Not a self absorbed pig as yourself. That right there is what will get my brother the Head Boy positions.

Melody watched as Collin turned his attention away from her to focus on Kassidy and Alec. She felt a pang of embarrassment. Was she boring him? She felt so out of place here. She waited until he was looking back at her before she spoke again.
"Ahem... Sounds interesting. I'm sort of into fantasy, myself... But a murder mystery sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to read." She smiled slightly. Tentatively, she leant in and muttered quietly to the older boy.
"Uh...Say, Collin... D'you think you could explain the dynamics of this little... group to me? I'm quite lost."

Raising an eyebrow, Julian leaned closer to Collin, resting his head again on Harmonie's shoulder, his eyes glittering coldly. "You think that just because I don't like you that I'm not nice? That's just a little bit self-centered, don't you think?"

Rolling his eyes at the Valée, he glanced over at the brunette by him. "Melody? Do you mind if I call you Melly, just so we don't confuse you with Mélodie over here?" he paused long enough to nod in the direction of Harmonie's twin before returning his gaze back to her, "So what House and Year are you in? What's your story?"

Kass knew that she was making Collin jealous. And she knew that was just pay back for what he was doing. She felt like she was getting even by talking to Alec. Kass had a sweet smile of her face. " You should really be paying attention to Melody and not me."

She then turned her attention back to Alec. " Don't listen to him, he is just a little bit jealous because another guy has my attention." Maybe the trip wasnt' going to be so bad. Kass wanted Collin to know that two could play at this game.

"Oh you can try Juli dear, but trust me, no one will be as special as I am, " she smirked flipped her hair.

She riased her eyebrow at the boy, before glancing back at Collin, "You will, will you? Thats good to know - I would hate to do anything to upset you Rouseau."

"A walk eh?" she looked Collin over for a long moment. She smirked at him for a moment before looking around the crowded compartment.

Fidgeting, she stealthily moved her skirt back to its semi-decent state before, getting up.

"Well now, I'd hate to leave this party, but I do think I am getting light headed from all the air sharing," she cut a gaze around the room, before waltzing her way to the door, "I am going for a walk, if anyone cares to join me... I may let them."

With one a cheshire cat smile, the young girl fixed her hair, before flouncing out of the compartment, not waiting for an answer or looking to see if anyone followed or not.

Collin was listening to Melody and he wasn't really sure of the dynamics himself, he was just flirting and chatting and causing problems.

"Melody, I really don't understand things in here anymore than you do, I am just going with the flow." Collin smiled, he really didn't know much.

"I know Julian over here is Prefect and wants to make sure that everyone knows it." Collin said tipping his head towards Julian and when Julian asked if he could call her Melly Collin could not help but roll his eyes. "Melly, please asking to call her Mel would be much more appropriate. Or you could just ask Melodie over there to call her Melly." Collin smiled.

Collin didn't like Julian, and he didn't even know him. "Well I do not care if you like me or not, I ain't here to appease you. But you don't even know me enough to truly hate me YET!."

It was at that point Collin noticed Ninette got up and decided she was going to go for a walk, not sure where they could go, but what the hay he needed to get away from Julian before he smacked him.

"Wait up Ninette I will go with you, I can't mister self absorbed anymore."

Ninette waltzed out of the compartment, and continued down through the carriage at a slow pase, a smile smirk staying on her face as she countined the seconds.

1... 2... 3...

She stopped as she heard the voice. She smirked but did not turn around.

"Oh, Rousseau just needs a good smack to get him in line. He'll shut up if you know how to wrangle him, " she drawlled slowly.

"But," she turned around, leaning agianst the opening of an empty compartment, "Lets not talk about him. I want to talk about you. What makes Collin, tick."

"After all these years, I think I've learnt that, Nine." Julian smirked, rolling his eyes at her.

Sighing, he shook his head, "And now you're going to go off and do the opposite just to smite me." Facepalming, he shook his head again. I should know this by now. Tell her the opposite of whatever I want.

"I never said I hated you," Julian rolled his eyes, wrinkling his nose, "If I did, trust me, you'd know it." I'd make your life a living hell.

Rolling his eyes at Ninette and Collin as he left, he paused for a moment, thinking. Smirking, Julian looked from Harmonie to Lisette, raising an eyebrow, "You know.....as prefects, aren't we supposed to patrol the carriage?"

"Long walks," Alec echoed, "How romantic."

"And the poor girl still thinks you're the nicest thing in the world," he shook his head, laughing, "Merlin, she follows every boy around like a little puppy."

He raised an eyebrow, "Is it bothering you, Raven?" Alec rolled his eyes when Collin walked out after Ninette. Seemed like somebody was trying a bit too hard to get her attention.

"Leaving us, are you?" he asked Rousseau, Lisette and Harmonie, "That's not very nice."

Kass smiled. “ Short walks are no fun, and besides walks are a good way of exercising.”

She then started to laugh when Alec said Kass thought he was the nicest thing in the word. Kass wasn't even thinking when she did her impression from the movie 'clueless'. “ As if!” She then noticed that he got up and had left. Kass had nothing to do since Collin had left. She had packed all of her books away, and she planned on talking to him. But it seemed like he had other plans. “ Oh bloody hell is this trip never going to end.”

"Ah, I see..." Melody nodded in vague understanding at Collin's remark.
Blinking as several people talked to her, at her or about her at once, she then turned to Julian. Ever the peacemaker, she tried to mediate the situation.
"Er... Whatever you want to call me is fine. I'll answer to most nicknames." She found herself wondering how everyone's attention shifted so fast. One moment she'd been reading quietly, the next everyone was shooting questions at her.
"I'm in Angelique, third year. As for my story... There's really not much to tell. Well, nothing in comparison to you, I'm sure." She half smiled at the older boy.
Melody was a little put out when Collin all but jumped at the chance to leave the carriage. Quickly, she shook it off. Perhaps Julian would prove to be interesting conversation.

"Oh, no, Kassidy," Alec said quickly, "I wasn't talking about you, no." He stifled a laugh, "As if you would think Collin Raven was the nicest thing in the world. Please, I'm sure you have better taste. I was talking about another girl who follows Rousseau around."

He turned to the other girl, "Third year Angélique, huh. What do you like to do?"

Kassidy laughed. " I have a lot better taste them him. How he treated me in here. He was nothing but rude, couldn't keep his eyes off of Ninny. " There are much nicer people out in the world than Collin. I know muggles who done better things."

She looked around and was trying to find something to do.
