Dark Arts Defense (2)

Defense against the dark arts wasn't all that interesting, to be honest. Aldan rummaged around in his bag, withdrawing his notepad he'd purchased in the summer and drawing his professor, grinning to himself as he added rather large wrinkles on her face and the hat bigger than her head. The promise to do better in school was still in Aldan's head and at the very least he was in class this time around so no harm done, right? He made sure to look up every now and then to see if the professor wasn't near him before bending his head down and drawing 'yak yak yak' near the professor's mouth. He idly caught phrases and words about the lecture, but other than that he really didn't care.

As he told Asric... Why should education matter to him if he can read and memorize it? Aldan didn't care to listen to something he might already know from reading all his life when he lived with his parents. His older brother just wanted him to have a future or some other nonsense, but Aldan only had his eyes set on enjoying a life he didn't really have back then. Admittedly, he actually had more restrictions with Asric than he did with mum and dad, but he adored his baby nephew and his sister-in-law Sophia at the very least. Asric was just an overprotective, overbearing worry wart.

Aldan blamed his thoughts for drawing Asric as a cat on the next page of his notepad.

Edith strolled into the classroom carring her cup of tea, she saw one of her seconds years was already there it looked like he was writing in his notebook, "Good Morning Mr Chaos, you must be pretty eager to be taking notes already" Edith said with a light laugh

She took a seat behind her desk and sipped at her tea before looking up at the boy " So do you know where the rest of your classmates are?" she asked

"Yes ma'am, definitely eager," responded Aldan with a light, amused grin on his youthful face. He cocked his head to the side at her for a second or two before shrugging. "Maybe I got the wrong memo? Could be second year skip day, who knows Professor."

He flipped his notebook closed, least Professor Miller discovered the pictures he'd drawn that would get him into trouble. "So enjoy the summer Prof?" He didn't attend Professor Miller's classes too much last year, so he wondered what she was like all things considering.

Edith smiled back at the boy as he asked how her summer was " Oh it was quite enjoyable, I manged to do some gardening and had long lazy days just reading a few books and what topped it all off was knowing my son is finally doing something with his life" Edith replied

"And I trust you too also had a good summer break?" Edith asked
