Transfiguration ~ 4th Year

Alex walked into class and again she was the only one there. Alex sighed and took a seat towards the back of the class. Alex looked around and saw that it was still the same from last year. Now all Alex had to do was wait for the class to begin.

Casey walked into her Transfig class, glad to be here once again. As long as they had the same Professor as last year, she knew she'd really like class. "Hey Alex, how's it going?" She plopped down in a desk pulling out a piece of parchment and doodling on it.

Lynx walked into the classroom, he was glad to be teaching his fourth years , they were probably his most favorite year level. As he entered he was kind of surprized to see only two students were there, though figured the rest would come soon

Lynx stood in front of his desk and greeted the students with his usual warm smile "So welcome back guys, now fourth year is where we start getting serious, learning more complex transfigurations. So it will require you to really dedicate yourself to this subject, but im sure you can all do it"

Lynx then clasped his hands together and grinned "So today we will be learning how to transfigure chairs to cats" Lyns then leaned back on his desk

"So what do you think would be the two most important aspects of this transfiguration?" Lynx asked looking at the two students

Casey raised her hand. "We will be Transfiguring a non living thing into a living thing and a less complex thing into a more complex thing. It will be harder than the reverse. It will require more willpower and concentration to perform."

Lynx nodded at Casey's answer "Ah yes good Miss Donohoe, because it is transfiguring from a non living object to a living creature alot of concentration is required, but thats not quite what I was looking"

Lynx then clasped his hands together "Think more basic, what are the first things you do before you cast the spell to transfigure something" Lynx said looking at the Gryffindor with an encouraging smile

Tiana slipped into the transfiguration room, hoping to have gone unnoticed. She was late for the class again, but this time it genuinely hadn't been her fault! She'd lost her time-table and fallen up the stairs, and her knee was still hurting from the ordeal. She sat down in an empty seat, not too far away from the other two girls, and waited for her lateness to be brought up. She never was that sneaky anyway.

Alex smiled when Casey came in. "Hey Casey, I'm good" Alex said. Before Alex could speak the professor walked in and she shut her mouth. She was excited somewhat to be learning how to turn stuff into animals. Alex has been itching to do this.

Casey shrugged. Oh well, she still thought it was a good answer. Racking her brains for a simpler answer, she said, "Uh, say the spell and move your wand?" She couldn't think of anything other than that. She gave a tiny wave to Tiana as the other girl came in late.

Lynx noticed another girl enter the class "Miss Diamond your late, please don't make a habbit of it thank you" Lynx then looked back to Casey

"YES! thats its wand movements, perfect Miss Donohoe. Now the other important aspect is visulization. Thats very important you need to imagine the chair transforming into a cat"

Lynx then pulled out his wand and dragged his chair out from behind his desk "Ok to cast this spell, you must of course hold your wand very firmly then swish it anticlockwise twice and give it one very sharp flick and say Cathedra Cattus" Lynx performed the spell, and his chair slowly turned itself into a tabby cat, he then picked the cat and placed it on his desk

'Alright guys, give it a shot. Remember precision with your wand movements and visual the cat appearing" Lynx then stroked the cat as he watched the students attempt the spell

Casey jumped a little at the Professor's loud exclamation, though she was glad she was right this time. Pulling out her wand, she practiced the wand movements a few times, visualizing a black cat with green eyes. Finally, she pointed her wand at the chair. Running through the movement again, she said, "Cathedra Cattus." nothing happened. She repeated the spell. On her third try, the chair legs turned into cat legs and it started running around. She trapped the thing and glared at it, repeating the spell once more. This time, the chair fully changed into a cat. She grinned triumphantly, even though it was a bit stiff.

Lynx smiled as he saw Casey's half transfigured cat, it reminded him very much of last years 4th years, thankfully though this was a smaller class, after watching her attempt the spell again she successfully manged to turn the chair into a cat

"Well done Miss Donohoe, brilliant work" Lynx then walked around the classroom observing the other students progress

Alex picked up her wand and pointed it to a chair. She took a deep breath and spoke the words to the spell. "Cathedra Cattus" Alex said clearly. She watched as it slowly turned into a beautiful black and white cat. Alex smiled and picked it up. It purred when Alex started to pet it's head.

Tiana nodded slightly at the professor. "Yes sir, I'm awfully sorry," she said just loud enough for him to hear and paid attention to the rest of the instructions on how to transfigure the chair. She quietly practiced the wand movements a few times, and when she thought she was confident she pointed her wand at the chair. She took a slow, steady breath and pictured a grey cat with white paws and yellow eyes. " Cathedra Cattus" she said confidently and watched as two eyes slowly appeared, then a pair of ears, and legs, and after a little while it was fully transformed into a cute little grey cat. She giggled and picked it up, cradling it in her arms like it was a baby.

Lynx observed the rest of the students performing the spell he was quite pleased with how they were going

"Brilliant guys, I must say you all are getting the hang of this very quickly im most impressed" Lynx then leaned against his desk "So I think its about time we turn these cats back into chairs"

Lynx then aimed his wand at the cat sitting on his desk, "So to reverse this spell its pretty standard, just swish your wand anticlockwise and give a sharp flick, while visualizing the chair" Lynx performed the spell, turning his cat back into his desk chair

Casey frowned. "Awwww, I wanted to keep my cat," she muttered. She pointed her wand at the small black cat and, getting the hang of it more easily now that she'd done it once, reversed the spell with a circle and a flick of her wand. Her chair was back to normal... Mostly. She repeated the motion and the tail disappeared.

Ellie looked into the room and saw the class already well under way. She really hated being a latecomer to the school at times when the classes had started. "Shoot" she whispered and slowly un-clicked the door. She stepped inside and closed it behind her, taking a slow breath to calm herself. "Professor? Sorry to interrupt the class, but I just found out I was taking transfiguration. I'll try to be on time in the future, now I know which classes I'm actually taking," she said with a smile. Ellie looked around and spotted an empty seat, which she would take when the professor had responded to her apology. ((OOC: Sorry! I genuinely had NO idea of the classes she was taking._.))

Lynx glanced down at his watch noticing that the lesson had run over 10 minutes late

"Oh sorry guys unfortunately we have gone over time, so you all best rush of to your next class" Lynx then smiled and nodded at the students, this was his subtle dismissal gesture
