Transfiguration ~ 5th Years

Thomas walked into Transfiguration. He never really thought he'd do something like this but he needed and extra course and he let Alex pick for him and that was a mistake in his eyes. Maybe it will be okay, but Thomas wasn't a mind reader. Thomas took a seat in the middle of the room and waited for someone to arrive.

Lynx walked into the classroom and was surprized to see that there was only one student, but he figured Transfiguration was a complex subject, hence why many students probably didn't choose it

Lynx walked up to the front of the room and stood in front of his desk and smiled at the boy

"Well im not sure if there are any more students coming, but im Professor Miller, who are you?" Lynx asked

Clearly, today was not the day that Damian would set a proper example as the Headmaster's apprentice and prefect by arriving to classes on time. Stifling a sigh, he made his way into Transfiguration, pausing at the door to utter a quiet apology to the professor.

Taking a seat, Damian pulled out his textbook and wand and placed them atop his desk.

Lynx paused as he noticed a boy walked into the classroom he recognized him from last year as he recalled he only showed up to one of his classes

"Mr Gray your late, don't make a habbit of it or else I might just have to go speak to Professor O'Brian" Lynx then picked up a blank piece of paper on his desk holding it up for the class

"So.... who can take a guess at what we will be transfiguring this piece of paper into?" he asked looking at the two students

Thomas heard someone come in and turned to see the professor. He listened as the professor spoke. "Thomas Gilbert, professor" Thomas introduced himself. He heard someone else come in and turned to see Damian Gray walk in. Thomas never talked to him but he's seen him in some of his classes.

Thomas looked at the paper. "A bird" Thomas guessed.

Picky ran through the doors of the classroom. She damned herself silently as she heard the teacher scold one of the two boys. She bit her lip and blushed, hating being late she mumbled and apology to the professor whom she also knew as Head of her house. "Sorry Professor, my classes were switched today and I got myself turned around, it won't happen again" She took her seat behind the Slytherin boy and shushed hearing him answer.

Lynx looked over at the door as he saw another student entere, she quickly apologized he smiled and nodded at her, while he was generally nice and cheerful to everybody, he had a soft spot for Gryffindors, often tending to be more lenient on them

"Thats quite ok Miss Picard, its not your fault I know the timetables can be a nightmare to sort out" Lynx then looked back at Thomas

"Ooh very good guess Mr Gilbert, but however we will be transfiguring this piece of paper into reading glasses" Lynx then pulled otu his wand

"So I think its best we just practice the wand movements first, because precision with the movements are critcal. So hold your wand firmly then swish it up and give it to sharp flicks" Lynx then smiled at the class, "Ok go ahead and practice that a couple of times"

Picky smiled pulling out her wand as she sad down. She held it firmly her hand a little shaky. She'd always been nervous wielding her wand. She grimaced trying hard to concentrate on the movement alone and not the spell at the moment. She Swished the wand loosely upward and flicked her wrist cracking at the harsh too hard movement. She sighed and tried again, swishing the wand upward she flicked it with less movement of the wrist and more with her actual hand. She continued to maintain similar movements until the professor came to her letting her know she was doing it correctly.

Damian silently took the admonishment. Merlin's shorts - he was late once. That was hardly a sign of it becoming a habit. He wasn't prefect for being a shoddy student, after all. And he did apologize for his tardiness, even if he wasn't all simpering about it like some might be.

Letting Gilbert answer the question, Damian glanced up to see one of the Gryffindor girls enter the room. At least he wasn't the only one late. That was encouraging.

A reading glass? Damian supposed such a thing would have practical purposes. Taking up his wand, he obediently repeated the wand movements. They were simple enough. Up. Flicks. he mimicked the movements with absolute precision.

Merlin, he needed to be more challenged.

Thomas listened to the professor tell them what to do and Thomas looked at everyone else before picking up his wand. He swished and flicked a few times until he was satisfied with what was going to happen when he was going to use the spell.

Lynx watched carefully as he saw all the students practice the movements after a while he was happy with how they were going, he then walked around placing a sheet of paper in front of them

"Alright guys, I think you have all got the hang of the movements. So lets give it a try, the incantation you will need to say is Charta Specula"

Lynx then gave the class a nodd, "Ok in your own time, you may begin"

Picky bit her lip, she lacked confidence in herself, she knew she could do this but now before a teacher she was unsure of herself. She looked at the paper putting her want down whispering the incantation a few times before picking the wand back up with a renewed self assurance. "Charta Specula!" She spoke low and confidently as she raised her wand and flicked, She watched nervously as the paper morphed, seemingly in slow motion.

Lynx glanced down at his watch noticing that the lesson had run over 10 minutes late

"Oh sorry guys unfortunately we have gone over time, so you all best rush of to your next class" Lynx then smiled and nodded at the students, this was his subtle dismissal gesture
