Lesson One (Third Years)

Lacey rose her hand in the air somewhat hesitantly. "It provided one with eternal life."

Richard nodded,

"Yes it can indeed!" he told Lacey with a smirk, "But I mentioned that earlier... give me something new!"

Karma thought for a second. "Used properly, I suppose, one could bring back people from the dead."

Richard stopped cold for a second before closing his eyes,

"Unfortunate things happen to those who try to bring back the dead Miss Black." he glanced at her sadly, "To bring back the dead you must sacrifice much. And even then there is no guarentee of success. Let's not think about that. Try for another."

Lacey slowly rose her hand again. "I guess it could heal someone who is injured or sick."

Richard smirked,

"Anything short of death." he agreed, "Five points to gryffindor."

He paused for a moment,

"Five house points to the student who can tell me the easiest gas to transfigure."

"Water vapor?" Lacey guessed warily.

Richard shook his head,

"Nope, so no points to slytherin." he paused, "Anyone else?"

He raised his hand and answered. "What about Nitrogen?" He said, his uncle might be mental but he sure knew his stuff when it came to magic.

Richard pointed to Arsen,

"Five points to you." he announced, "Yes, Nitrogen is the most magically reactive gas present in air. Oddly enough it is the least reactive gas present in air for muggle scientists."

He looked over the class,

"Anyone guess which element in air is the least magically reactive?"

Karma raised her hand. "Oxygen." She guessed.

Richard smirked a little as he looked at Karma,

"I knew Cobie picked you for a reason." he teased before nodding, "Five points to slytherin. Oxygen is the most reactive element in air for muggle scientists but is pretty unreactive to magic."

He paused,

"There is a small concentration of an element, found in air, that is explosive when touched with a certain kind of magic. Any guesses as to what it is?"
