Lesson One (First Years)

"Well I know that anything of metal, or of alkaline substance burns their skin" Seth said hoping he was right.

Damian bit his lip to hold back the small smile that threatened his features at the pixie's antics - he didn't want Natil to pull his hair, after all.

He listened to Seth's response. It was close to what he would have responded, so he didn't offer his own answer. Though, he did think it was iron, in particular, rather than all metals.

Cobalt nodded with a smirk,

"Close enough Mr Forsyte." he looked over the class, "For future reference, it's iron, cobalt, nickel, zinc and silver. Don't ask why those metals, just write them down in your notes."

He smirked at Natil,

"But Natil's a very weak creature... any other weaknesses of being a pixie?"

Damian scribbled down the notes, then raised his hand.

"Her size could probably be considered a weakness, sometimes, especially against something bigger, but then she can also move faster a lot of the time," he said. "So, it probably depends."

Cobalt nodded while Natil blushed her dark green blush,

"Yes that can be both an advantage and a disadvantage." he grinned, "She likes that you've mentioned it as a strength, not many people do."

He paused,

"Anything else?" he looked around, "Nothing?"

Becky frowned as something tickled at her memory. "Um... they don't have much magic, I think?" Her voice was unsure, and rose slightly at the end, making it a question. "I mean, they can do small, mostly mischievous things, but nothing at a larger scale... right?"

Cobalt nodded and set the still blushing Natil down on Damian's desk, where she proceeded to turn away from the boy and blush more,

"True enough. A pixie isn't a spell caster by nature." he shrugged, "They can do some small magic as you said but it's mostly instinct and not very powerful."

"Anything else?"

Damian smiled at the little pixie. He knew all about how being smaller than others could be an advantage. A lot of the boys in his neighborhood were bigger than him, but they were also slower.

He studied Natil, pondering what other weaknesses a pixie might have. It had been a while since he'd read about them, so he could quite recall... Damian thought she was fantastic, though. As he couldn't get his mind to bring forth any further response to the professor's question, he instead wondered how hard it would be to learn to speak pixie...

"Can they speak other languages?" he asked suddenly. "They're smart enough to; Natil can understand English, anyway. She's only been speaking to you in pixie, though."
