A night in Leaky Cauldron (Open)

Briony smiled softly, well, she had never had a student crush on her before, and it might be slightly nice she thought to herself, besides, he's respectful which is more than I get from any other student that wanders into my classroom.

"I teach muggle duelling, all about physical training, have you taken it? I hope that you do, it's a very rewarding course, sometimes you can't rely on magic yes?"

Reclining in her chair she smiled breifly, it was obvious that Miles was over the moon about the apprenticeship, but, she couldn't help but feel a little jealous, all her apprentices had failed massively and she had ended up letting every single one of them go in the end.

"You're lucky Shaun, having such a dedicated apprentice, all mine failed. Miserably."

"that is very true professor, I think I might take that class... but I'm not the most muscular guy"

"true miles, that's great!, and an aging potion, gotta love ravenclaws" But he had no idea if aging potions took skill or not but if miles was proud it must be great.

Speaking to everyone Vincent said "how long have you guys been here"

Briony smiled at Vincent and leant forward slightly, if she wasn't so trashed she probably wouldn't be encouraging this but, oh well, she was.

"Well I hope that you do, I could use someone like you in my class. Muscles aren't a pre-requisite, you don't really need them."

She waved her hand dismissively and looked around for a clock, finding none she shrugged her shoulders.

"I've had 9 shots, almost ten, so I would say at least an hour and a half. If not more. You're out a bit late...for a student that is. What brings you here?"

Shaun watched with amusement as the new boy, well he saw him at the Bathroom making Amortentia, talked with Briony like a southern gentleman.
He smiled back at Miles, "So did you just follow the recipe or considered some adjustments on your own?"
He frowned at Vincent's question. Really, how long have they been here? Time seemed to pass so fast!
Shaun shook his head when Briony declared herself winner, "Not so fast ma'am, we're drinking at the same time."

"o, so not long... and almost ten, my thats quite an achievement... and I congratulate you as well professor" tilting his head toward professor moody.

He listened and tried his best to understand potions but was distracted everytime he glanced at Briony

"and i merely came out to find some company and a warming conversation... and it seems I've come to the right place"

Briony looked at Shaun and pointed at him with a smirk on her lips, curling the corners up as she ran her finger around the rim of her glass slowly.

"Oh I'm not through yet mister! I will win I assure you."

Winking at him Briony poured another shot and downed it in one, shuddering again, raising her eyebrow in a challenge for Shaun to take another shot and to down it just like she had done.

"Well, I'm glad you think so Vincent, tell me, who's your favourite professor? Since were gossiping?"

"You're on, Professor." Shaun winked back at her and downed his shot in one go, the liquid burning his throat a little on its way down.
"Yes Vincent, do tell us. And don't forget the least favorite one. You too Miles." He waved a finger at him, mock sternnes in his tone.

Well, I'm only new to hogwarts and haven't really had any classes, you two are the only ive met... so i would say that you two are my favourite" he smiled broadly at both of them and hoping not to sound rude, threw the question back
"who are your favourite students and who don't you like?" He leant forward giving miles a cheeky grin

Briony grinned as she took on the renewed challenge from Shaun, she wasn't going down just yet she had at least five more shots in her she reckoned.

"I'm one of your favourites? Well gee, I'm flattered, most people think in stricter than most professors but I guess you'll find that out hmm?"

With that Briony had a think about who she liked the best, tilting her head she shrugged her shoulders, it was poor of her but she really didn't remember many of her students, ones that stood out were ones that actually attended.

"I liked Flora, and Alexis. But in quickly gaining a new favourite."

Vincent took the hint and his face went red as he smiled at the table.
"Sometimes being strict is a good thing" he watched as the two professors continued their drinking competition,
congratulating each professor when they downed another drink.

At the way that Vincents face grew bright red Briony couldn't help but grin at him, after all, it was just so sweet, she shouldn't really be doing it, but Briony never played by the rules anyway.

"Thanks, I think so too..."

Looking at the two boys Briony smirked;

"Anyone asks, this drinking infront of students never happened."

Vincent said with a laugh
"What drinking?"

He suddenly realised how tired he was, and his gut churned when he found he had to leave
With a sigh he said
"I'm really tired, and as my Dad always tells me, 'early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise'" he stood and after pushing his chair in nodded toward Professor Moody and Miles saying "Good night", then bowed toward Briony and said
"Buona serata e dolci sogni, Briony Romain" and with a smile he walked out the door.

Miles reached into his satchal and pulled out his copy of Witch Weekly, as he saw the two Professors were engaging in a drinking competition, Miles flipped through the magazine looking for a decent article, he found one, How to Get That Wizard Miles was instanly drawn to this while normally he didn't buy into all these trashy mags this particular article drew his attention

He soon became ingrossed in the article and becoming completely oblivious to everything around him. He was suddenly interupted when he heard Vincent, saying goodbye

Miles turned around "Goodbye Vince" Miles yelled, as his friend walked across the room Hmm, perhaps I should go to, it seems this is turning into abit of a booze fest Miles thought to himself

He then turned to face the Professors, he smiled then placed his Witch Weekly back into his satchal

Briony smirked as Vincent got up to leave, she wondered just what this school year was going to be like now that she had at least one student who liked her, in any way.

As he bowed to her Briony smiled a little, inclining her head to him also, how sweet she thought as he began to turn to walk away.

"Au revoir mon petite amie."

Turning back to Shaun Briony grinned, taking up another shot glass and holding out her arm for Shaun to link his through, then they would chuck the shots back together.

"Hey, what are you reading there Miles?"

Professor Romain asked what Miles was reading, he hesitated for a while, an article on how to deal with a nosey Professor Miles thought to himself, this made him a smile a bit, he tried hard to restrain from laughing, or else Professor Romain would really start askng questions

" Oh its just one of those trashy articles" Miles laughed a little, " So are you two planning on drinking.. all night?" Miles asked

he glanced over at Professor Moody he noticed he was starting to become quite drunk, he had to smile to himself that even when he was drunk Professor Moody still had an enluring charm about him

Briony although drink was still a trained killer. And a trained killer did not appreciate being mocked. Especially when she was drunk off her head, so, smirking ever so slightly she tapped her fingers on the table.

"You do know that those love articles are a load of bull right? They never. Ever. Work."

Smiling frostily she leant back on her chair.

"Well that was the plan before you students showed up, it's still the plan now isn't it Shaun? Getting drunk, you'll understand when you're older the joys of a hangover."

Miles smiled at Professor Romain as she commented on how all those articles were trashy " Well yeah I don't tend to really pay much attention" Miles senses that Professor Romain was annoyed with Miles and wanted him to go so they could continue getting drunk

Miles then looked over at Professor Romain " Ok then, sorry for interupting" Miles said

He quickly stood up and smiled over at Professor Moody and said goodnight to him, Miles quickly spun around and walked quickly towards the exit Why does she hate me, I've done nothing to her Miles thought to himself trying to hold back the urge to cry

Looking at Shaun as Miles left Briony raised her eyebrow, her frosty expression stillin place, and she wondered just why he had decided to get upset about something that had happened to him because of what he did.

"Well...that was eventful..."

Briony topped up her glass with a sigh.

"Miles certainly does seem very dedicated to potions, you're lucky to have such an apprentice."

"Sure that's the plan." Shaun grinned and clinked his shot glass with Briony's and chucked it back into his throat.
He watched Miles leave and murmured, "Yes, I hope he will keep his interest on potions. It's not a subject to be taken half-heartedly. And he seems to have an insolent streak in him."
Shaun analyzed himself, he will continue upto the point where he can apparate home. Guess, he can still take in two or three more.

Briony smirked at him as Shaun said that Miles had an insolent streak in him and she shrugged her shoulders, it wasn't like she really minded, after all he wasn't her apprentice but she hoped that he would learn to gain better control of his thoughts, especially when she could so easily read them.

"It would seem so indeed, I would say you need to get that out of him but youre too nice to do that."

Getting out her packet of cigarettes Briony gestured to Shaun, asking in one gesture a) if he minded her smoking and b) if he wanted one himself.

Shaun took the offered ciggarette and lit it up, "Thanks." He said, the rich tobacco clearing up his brain.

"You haven't seen me in class." He smirked at Briony, "I don't frighten my students off, but I can be strict when I want."
Shaun was pretty sure, at least some of the students were weary of him, though he didn't quite know why.

Briony smiled softly at Shaun and lit up her own cigarette, she took a drag then her eyes drifted down to her small fob watch and she swore under her breath, getting up from her seat Briony collected her coat from the back.

"Sorry man! I have to go before my husband skins me alive!"

Stepping over to the fireplace Briony threw down some Floo powder, winked and said:

"I'll see you around!"

Before saying the name of her house and disappearing from sight, being whisked away to her house and her potentially angry husband.
