L4- 2nd year-Girding Potions

Shaun smiled at the answer, "No Ms. Tshering, I'm afraid you can't have too little endurance. It reduces the pain reaction of nerves. Thus the brain fails to register pain upto a certain degree. Next one?"

Elizabeth waved as her friends entered the classroom, she wasn't going to talk about her break as it wasn't much of a break anyways. She listened quietly as the teacher and her fellow students spoke, she wrote down the notes as she went. Her eyes darted around as she wondered what else was required for this endurance potion, it would be good in battle that was for sure.

Iris nodded at all the other answers and copied out notes written on the board. She thought of the other ingredient's use but came up with nothing. She scanned her book but still, she can't find it.

Caleb raised his hand. "The next ingredient is flying seahorses" said Caleb writing down what the other ingredients were.

Lauri opened her mouth to answer, but sighed when the boy beat her to it. She nodded at the boy's answer, and wrote down the notes which were on the board.

Zayden ran hastily toward Potions class. Great... Just great.. (Sigh) "Good morning Professor. I deeply apologize for my tardiness." she said, huffing. She then, grabbed a seat and took notice of what was written on the board.

"And the other ingredient is Doxy eggs, Professor," Iris replied and wrote down the notes which were on the board.

Shaun Moody, "I accept your apology. but two points from Gryffindor. Flying seehorses and doxy eggs, both are correct. Five points to each of you. Now, who can tell me the uses?"

Shaun listed down the ingredients for them on the board.

"And ask me if you have any questions regarding the brewing, we'll be starting the potion once I get the answers."

"Do they help stabilize the potion?" Anna asked. "To make it not too... runny and to make sure the person doesn't go mad if they drink it?"

"Flying seahorses do that, And also enhances underwater breathing etc. Doxy eggs are one of the most reactive ingredient, so they will never stabilize the potion. They will increase the strength of the potion. Helps the other ingredients release their property more spontaneously." Shaun lectured.
"Okay now that we've got the ingredients out of the way, lets move onto the recipe."
Shaun wrote on the board:

1. Grind the dragonfly thoraxes into a fine powder.
2. Stew three Flying seahorses in a cauldron half full of water for ten minutes.
3. Scatter the powdered thorax and stir five times clockwise.
4. Grind the Fairy wings into a fine powder and add a pinch to the potion.
5. Stir fifteen times anticlockwise, add a clockwise stir in between every five anticlockwise ones.
6. Drop two doxy wings and let it simmer for half an hour.

Iris did pretty well with regards to the ingredients and still felt relieved she'd done it. But the stirring are only the exception: some are less than what is required because of her tiredness and lazy attitude, and mostly are more than because of her eagerness to finish and wrap up the day. Cleaning up her desk, she labeled the phial she took just before and headed to pass it to the professor with her bare finger crossed behind her back.
