Happy & Alone (Open)

Savannah flicked a few flyaway dark strands of her hair as she steered her trolley, keeping her gaze on the majestic crimson train in front of her. It was rather amazing, but from the way people looked at it around her, it was like they'd never seen a train before. Glancing at her mother, who walked beside her, she quickly bade her farewell. As much as she loved her mother, she had decided that it was best to get away from as soon as possible. She knew that her mother would be quick to introduce her to children of old friends, and Savannah was not interested in making friends.

Smiling down at the fluffy grey cat perched on top of her trolley in a carrier, she strolled towards the train. Clamouring on, she found an empty compartment with ease. Closing the door behind her, the first year witch opened the carrier. Ross sprung out, and quickly laid down on a patch of sunlight on the table in the middle of the compartment, purring contently. Pulling a book out of her luggage randomly, before putting her luggage above her seat. Sitting down, she began to read up on Transfiguration, quite content with her current company.

Kirsten wandered aimlessly through the bustling corridors, deep in thought, the cogs of her mind ticking over the last chapter of Hogwarts: a History that she had just been reading before boarding the train. She was well read, and ready to make an impression at Hogwarts. All she needed now was to find an empty compartment.

Mulling over the construction of the Grand Staircase, she absent-mindedly opened the door to a compartment, assuming it was empty and relishing in the prospect of sitting, daydreaming and finishing her book; she'd like to have it memorized by the time they arrived at Hogwarts.

She snapped back to reality for a moment as she entered the compartment, and suddenly realized that she was not alone. Her gaze swept over a pretty dark haired girl who was already seated there. Kirsten fixed a ready smile on her face. "Hi," she said, "do you mind if I join you?"

Blinking up at the blonde who'd appeared in her compartment, Savannah thought for a moment. She had no problem with her sitting here, she supposed. After all, she couldn't spend her whole year in isolation, could she? Glancing sideways at Ross, a smile danced on her lips as she watched him sleep. Flicking her gaze up to the girl, she shrugged, leaning back against her seat, "I don't mind. Of course, as long as I have a reason not to, you're welcome to sit." Eyes drifting back to her feline, she added, "Well, as long as you like cats," Not waiting for an answer, she dove back into her textbook.

Kirsten's eyes flicked over to the adorable cat that the girl had just pointed out, and smiled warmly. "No, you needn't worry about that-" she broke off as the girl quickly shut down the conversation and began reading her book once again. Feeling a tad miffed, Kirsten tried her best to manouever her way into the compartment without making too much noise.

She perched awkwardly on the seat, unsure if it would be rude to remain silent for the duration of the journey, or if it would be ruder still to interupt the girl once again. She debated over it for a few more moments before taking a breath and saying, "I'm Kirsten, by the way."

Reading through her copy of The Beginners Guide to Transfiguration, she couldn't help but feel somewhat frustrated as the girl sitting across from her began to speak. Why couldn't she understand that she was busy reading her book? Beginning to regret letting her into the compartment, she flipped the page, hoping that the girl who'd introduced herself as Kirtsen would get the message. Glancing up at her, she sighed softly and introduced herself, "I'm Savannah."

Hoping that she wouldn't continue her failed attempt of a conversation, Savannah began to read her book again.

Lavander walked up the aisle, she then came across a carriage with only two girls sitting there. She slowly opened the door and smiled

" Hello, do you mind if I join?" Lavander asked as she looked over at the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw girl, and waited anxiously for a reply

Wow, what a snob, Kirsten thought, anger flaring through her veins. I was only trying to be nice. She decided to not even dignify this Savannah character with a response and turned back to her book.

Thankfully, a far more friendly girl showed up who introduced herself as Lavander. Kirsten smiled warmly and said, "Hey, no I certainly don't mind you joining," she said, glancing with a glare over at Savannah. "Please come in. Lavander, right? My name's Kirsten. It's nice to meet you."

More people? Savannah groaned inwardly, staring up at new girl - Lavender? Had she introduced herself as that? - over her book. Why couldn't she see that she wasn't wanted? Though Savannah could've walked out of the compartment, she decided against it. It would be almost impossible to find an empty compartment at this point. Muttering under her breath, she tried to tune the two girls out as she continued to read.
