Lesson Three - 4th Years Empty Lesson Three - 4th Years

Miles walked into the Greenhouse and walked up to his desk placing down his bag, and pulling out some text books. Miles hopped that perhaps his fourth years would show up for this lesson unlike last, though he was able to catch up with grading because his class didn't arrive

Miles then walked over to a trolley in the far left hand corner of the Greenhouse, there were several Change of Heart Plants, an unsual plant which resembled a black rose excpet its thorns were steel blades and in the centre of the rose were a set of razor sharp teeth

Miles waved his wand over the plants, they all then leviatated themselves onto the students benches, Miles then walked up to the front of the Greenhouse and took a seat behind his desk as he waited for his students to arrive

Letti walked into the greenhouse with determination. Herbology was one of her favorite classes (not that she would admit it out loud), but she didn't feel like she was making a good enough effort in it.

Breathing in slowly, the blond took a seat near the front. Her eyes caught sight of the plant in front of her and her eyebrows knitted together. Roses? Why were they working on roses?

"Hello, Professor," Letti said, slightly distracted as she tried to think of why they would be working on such a...a...a...a muggle flower. That was, until she saw the teeth...

Ohhh, I get it, she thought.

Miles glanced down at his watch and saw the class due to start, even though only student had arrived he decided that he would begin the class

" Ok this I think we should just get started with the lesson. Today we will be learning how to re-pot the Change of Heart Plant, so tell me what do you know about this plant?" Miles asked the girl

Letti's eyes widened as the professor addressed her. Class was starting? But there wasn't anybody else there!

"Uh," she stuttered, trying to compose herself. What did she know about the plant? Oh, right. Absolutely nothing.

"I'm sorry Professor Bloxam, but I've never heard about the Change of Heart plant," Letti murmured, her face tinging a light shade of pink.

So much for making a better effort...

Oliver entered class in time to hear the girl she she didn't know anything about the plant. He guessed the professor was asking what they knew about the plant.

He approached his bench and looked at the plant carefully. "Considering the plant has teeth, I would guess it's a carnivore," he said dully. He was falling behind classes and he knew it. Part of him didn't care because of his kidnapped cousin. But this was school and he needed to stop sulking because it was getting out of hand slightly.

Miles saw another student enter the class, he decided to dismiss his lateness to class, he'd said that the plant was probably canivore, Miles then tilted his head from side to side

" Well... yes and no Mr Penderghast, when it's in it's "dark side" it is an extremly vicious flesh eating plant but when in its "light side" its quite harmless" Miles the flicked his wand towards the board as it wrote down what he said

" So to re- pot these Change of Heart plants we must force them into their light side" Miles then pulled out his wand ready to demonstrate the charm they would be using " To achieve this we will be using the Cheering Charm, which will make the plant happy and content, now to cast this spell simply hold your wand like this and give it two firm flicks and say Laeto"

Miles then looked at his two students, "Ok im going to get you guys to try this charm, but firstly go over to the shelf there and get a medium sized pot and some potting mix so that you can place the Change of Heart into it. And remember work quickly once you have cast the spell as for the effects do not last long" Miles then watched his students begin to perform the task

Lesson Three - 4th Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - 4th Years

Letti felt a tinge of gratitude as the Ravenclaw, Oliver, if she remembered correctly, entered the greenhouse and answered the question. She didn't like not knowing the answers, nor did she like other people knowing she didn't know. But the professor didn't seem to notice, and that was all that mattered to her.

The Slytherin listened to Professor Bloxam's instructions attentively, trying to remember each step perfectly. The last thing she needed was a plant trying to eat her face off.

Walking over to the shelf the teacher had pointed out earlier, Letti grabbed a pot and some potting mix. She carried it back to her seat, and set about prepping the pot for repotting the Change of Heart plant. When that was set, she took her wand out and pointed it at the plant.

Though charms was her favorite (and best) subject, Letti wasn't all that confident in the outcomes of her spells, and was a bit nervous about casting the cheering charm.

"L-Laeto," she said, and wasn't surprised when nothing happened. Clearing her throat, the blond took a deep breath to calm her nerves. "Laeto."

The plant, which had resently been trying to sink its teeth into the wood of her wand, was still for a second before changing its demeanor all around. It seemed to sway on its roots, giving off an aura of tranquil harmony.

"Aww," Letti cooed, gushing at the sudden cuteness. It was a few moments before she remembered that she was, in fact, supposed to be repotting this. Pink dusting the skin of her cheek bones, she slipped on her gloves and tried to remove the roots as gently as possible from the soil.

A few minutes later, with the Change of Heart in its new home, the effects of her cheering charm seemed to have wore off, and it attempted to take a large bite off of her left hand.

"Nasty little bugger," Letti muttered, snatching her hand away quickly.

Doing what the Professor told him to do had proven quite difficult for Oliver. Part of him refused to do the cheering charm with his un-cheeriness mood. He sucked it up, quickly following the professor's instructions He was close to getting bit but was lucky enough to get way with it.

Well, that's one good thing I've got going on today, he thought to himself and sighed mentally.

Miles watched the two students begin to perform the task, the Slytherin girl was following his instructions exactly and successfully cast the spell. Miles was impressed at how well she was working, he then glanced over towards the Ravenclaw boy and noticed he didn't use the cheering charm and just re-potted as a muggle would

Miles raised his eyebrow, but decided to ignore it, after all I guess he did manage to re-pot it without causing any harm to himself, Miles then grabbed the Goulish Guide textbook and flipped through the pages until he found the page on change of heart plants he looked up at his class

" Ok so class, you both to excellent in re-potting the Change of Heart plant and im very impressed, now could you please turn to page 168 in your Goulish Guide textbooks and copy out all the information the red boxes thank you" Miles then returned behind his desk and began marking his first years homework essays
