Lesson Four - 2nd Years

Edith entered the classroom, she walked up to the front of the desk and placed down her books. She was slightly pleased about returning to teaching after so long having recently done her PhD in Defensive Spells she felt confident this should be a good lesson

Edith then flicked her wand at the board, writing suddenly began to appear it read "Deprimo Charm" Edith then glanced up at the clock behind her and saw to it was anohter few minutes until the lesson started, she hoped the students would be on time, however she had heard the most of the professors who taught this class had been some what absent, resulting in students no bothering to show up

Casey walked into Defense, happy for another chance to learn something in one of her favorite subjects. She registred slight surprise at the new Professor, but shrugged it off.
"Hello Professor, how are you today?" she asked as she set her things down and sat in her desk.

J. J. wandered quietly into the Defense class quietly, nodding to the professor - another new one, it seemed that the school had done a rehall on the Professors again. It was odd how they did that so often, but the Hufflepuff didn't really care.

"Hello Professor," she tried to speak semi-quietly, getting much more use to her odd fake voice, but not liking it all that much. There was a marked difference between getting use to, and liking. "I'm J. J. Jones."

She introduced herself to the woman for simplicity, and then huddled down in her seat in the back of the room, tapping the band of her ring against the desk as she waited for class to begin.

Edith nodded at the students who entered the classroom, she then glanced up at the door and noticed that the lesson was due to start now, even thdough she only had two students Edith decided that she simply just had to start and perhaps the other students would join the class later

" Hello girls im Professor Miller, today we will learning about the Deprimo charm, this charm causes a strong blast of wind to be shot out of the casters wand, it can use use to forcefully blow someone who is trying to do ill harm to you off their feet and knock them back, it also depending on the intent of the caster it also can be used to blast through walls"

Edith then pulled out her wand "To cast the spell you hold your wand as such and give it two firm flicks and move it in a circular motion and say the incantation Deprimo. Now I would like you to give it a try, by casting the spell on the portable blackboard"

Edith then thought for a moment which girl she was going to call up first " Ok Miss Jones perhaps you would like to come the front of the class and attempt the spell"

J. J. looked up at the voice and listened to the instructions carefully. She felt a little fleck of nerves at being called upon but pushed it back. She didn't need to worry - she had some form of a voice now. Ms. Mad had promised it would work with spell casting.

That had been one of her bigest problems before ... spell casting.

Sighting she pulled herself out of her seat, and walked closer to the object she was supposed to cast the spell upon, all the while mentally preparing herself, plotting what she wanted to happen as she went.

Clearing her throat - feeling the closest to normal she had in the longest time - she held her wand as she was told and gave it a shot.

At first nothing happened, but J. J. had never been on to give up. On the second attemp a weak brease came out, making the board wabble slightly.

Squaring her shoulders, she gave it one more go.

"Deprimo!"

A blast shot from her wand, and the board sailed across the room.

Edith watched the Hufflepuff girl come up and attempt the spell, her first attempt was quite weak and only produced a weak breeze, but this was to be expected of a first attempt. Then on her second attempt the girl manged to blow back the board

" Excellent cast Miss Jones" Edith said she then looked over at the other girl in her class " Ah so Miss Donohoe would you like to come up and attempt the spell thank you"

Victoria rushed in late, her eyes wide as she panted and her stuff fell onto the ground. She swallowed as she looked up at the teacher and the other students already in the classroom. She was late and she knew it. She screamed a curse at herself in her head angrily but grimaced a smile at them nervously regardless.

Jamie did a fast walk into class to see the professor already started. Jamie sighed because she had a feeling she was going to get in trouble... Again for being late. Jamie took a seat. "Hello professor" Jamie said getting everything she needed for the class.

J. J. nodded and smiled slightly as the professor complimented her.

"Thank you Professor," she responded softly as she made her way back to her desk.

She liked the way her stomach tingled with excitment, with, with - pride. She felt more like herself... more alive? ... than she had in the last few months.

This was why she was here, this was who she was - a witch, magic was part of her and she loved it.

Casey stood up, eager to try. She practised the wand movement a few times, trying to get it right. When she thought she had it, she turned to the blackboard.
"Deprimo!" she said, circling then flicking her wand. A light breeze nuged the blackboard a little.
Scowling, though not expecting to get it perfect on the first try, Casey repeated the motion, crying "Deprimo!" harder. The board rocketed across the room in a giant burst of wind. Casey grinned and did a mental happy dance. Yes!

Edith saw two more students enter the class, she gave them a slight nodded and gestured for them to take a seat. Edith observed the Gryffindor girl attempt the spell her first try wasn't successful but this was to be expected, but on her second try she manged to blast the board back Edith then smiled at the girl

" Well done Miss Donohoe, an excellent cast" Editht hen looked over towards the other Gryffindor girl who was late " Ah Miss Hellsing would you please come up to the front and I'll show you how to cast the spell"
