Charms, Lesson 2; First Year Empty Charms, Lesson 2; First Year

Post by Certh Salamar Mon Apr 23, 2012 2:27 pm

The morning had been rough on Certh - but it was not anything he couldn't handle. He made his way, yet again, down another Corridor. Although this time, he had been thinking about what new spell he would be learning that day. The door opened as he entered briskly and sat in a desk in the center of the classroom this time - there was no chairs near the sides.

Jess walked in with a slight grimace, remembering how her last Charms lesson went. "This one better be an improvement," she sighed. She was still a bit off from the holidays, and it took nearly falling flat on her butt to realize that there weren't any seats near the outside of the classroom.

"That did not just happen," she scowled, regaining her balance and slumping tiredly down into a random seat. She didn't particularly care where the seat was, as long as she didn't have to stand up anymore. "Well, today can go one of two ways."

Annabell walks into yet another class and sits in a desk towards the front. She taps her fingers on the desk lightly as she waits. She was sort of tired. She hated waiting for long periods of time, but she didn't know anyone that she could hang out with outside of school besides Roselia. She didn't want to be the friend that was always wanted to hang out with one person so she usually just read or walked outside to sit in the sun by herself.

Made his way towards charms class, his bag over his back. And he slowly made his way there, wand in his sleeve hand. Once he entered the classroom. He slowly made his way to a sit to sit by himself. And took out a book and begun to read it.

Essie walked into the charms class and saw that there was a few students in the class already, she found a seat in the seat second row and sat down, she pulled out her quil and notepad and then leaned back in her chair twirling her wand around in her hand admiring the carvings of it

Vivian walked into the charms classroom and saw that Certh, Jessica, and Annabell were already there. She waved to each of them before spotting two new people. Vivian gave them a nod and then sat down in the third row of the classroom. She opened her textbook and looked through her previous notes, musing about what new spells she'd learn.

During the time that Certh had entered, there had been several more students that walked in - but still no professor, to his disappointment. He noticed Jessica enter, out of the corner of his eye and took a seat not too far from him. Certh looked at her for several seconds, wondering why she was sitting over there - and heard her mumble something, before he turned his attention back to the front of the room.

Charlotte was surprised to see five familiar faces and one she didn't know already in Charms when she walked in. She really was running late.

Taking a seat in the third row, a few seats from Vivian, she took out the Muggle book she'd been reading during break and wondered if she'd have enough time to finish it before the professor arrived. There were only a few pages left, anyway.

Essie smirked at the other Hufflepuff's comment, she then looked over towards him a smirk still on her face
"I guess your going to be a Librarian when you graduated then" Essie said with a laugh,

She was glad someone decided to break the silence as for it was on ther verge of becoming awkward

He took his eyes off his book. And calmly looked at her smiling at her. Before he shook his head slowly, and gave two minutes of peace and quiet before speaking."Not at all, I plan to be a Future Headmaster of this School, of the Head Auror, or a Grandmaster Chef. For cooking you gotta try my cooking some time Essie your gonna love it. I know Miss Char did. Right Char?" He asked her very slowly. Waiting for some sort of a reply from them.

Essie was surprized to hear what Sergiy wanted to be once he graduated " Wow there pretty big ambitious, you surely have thought and planned your future out, I mean I don't even know what im going to have for breakfast tomorrow"

Essie then raised an eyebrow at the boy when he said he was pretty good at cooking and she should try some of his food sometime

"Well you'd have to be pretty good, like my dad is king of the kitchen at home and his food is pretty unbeatable" Essie said with a cheeky smirk

Charlotte looked up from her book when she heard her name being called and looked around.

"Huh?" she asked, confused, until she realized it was Sergiy that had spoken to her. "Oh, your food," she smiled and nodded, "It's really good."

Lenora walked into the classroom and shut the door behind her. She walked up to her desk and flicked her wand at the board and wrote Lumos on it. She then turned to her class. "Welcome back, hope you had a good holiday. This lesson will be based on the spell Lumos. Can any of you tell me what the spell Lumos does" Lenora looked for someone.

Post by Certh Salamar Mon Apr 30, 2012 3:49 pm

Certh was beginning to get anxious, his right hand remained on his wand - which was on top of his desk. He was getting a little agitated by the teachers being late to, it seemed, all of his classes. A smirk passed over his lips while the professor strode into the room, and up to the front of the class, his question of what they'd be learning today was quickly haltered as the spell 'lumos' appeared on the blackboard.

It was almost too easy - this, too, was a spell that his parents had told him about before he started at Hogwarts school. Certh raised his left hand, keeping his right on his wand, and spoke almost instantly. "Professor, lumos acts as a light, allowing you to see in the darkness" He paused - noting to himself that he had spoken somewhat out of term, but was unsure if the professor had infact planned to choose somebody - or if she was just looking for an answer.

Charlotte watched as the professor walked in and wrote Lumos on the board. According to her textbook, it was one of the easiest spells to learn, so she was a bit disappointed. She loved challenges.

Ceth answered the question and Charlotte nodded to herself, wondering if she should complement the answer or not. "It's also the only known spell effective at repelling spectral foes," she said as she recalled what was written in the book, raising her hand slightly, "And it has stronger variations, such as Lumos Duo, Lumos Solem and Lumos Maxima."

Vivian glanced up when the professor walked in and started to write on the board. She was a bit irritated that she hadn't gotten to finish her book but then just decided to later. Vivian was even further agitated when the professor wrote Lumos on the chalkboard. That was an easy spell? She shrugged, reprimanding herself for being annoyed. She was learning wasn't she? Most didn't get this kind of opportunity.

Just when she was about to answer the question, Certh and Charlotte already jumped on it. Vivian smiled at their explanations and bobbed her head in agreement. She was curious if they would at least be learning the strongest Lumos spell, that would be nice.

Lenora nodded. "Good, 15 points to Slytherin" Lenora told her students. "Okay so today you will be doing that spell" Lenora grabbed her wand. "Lumos" Lenora said and the tip of her wand glowed. "Okay so today you will be doing that spell. Begin" Lenora said to them.

The Professor was here man he was happy. And it was a she, and she had asked what was Lumos before he can answer he was bombed with people just calling out things, he sighed and shook his head. Not wanting to say anything Unless he was first and had the final word. He then looked side ways and spoke.'Counter spell, is Nox." he said bluntly. before sighing. He shook his head and spoke."Today is a different day." He said taken his wand, and giving it a nice tap before speaking."LUMOS!" HE said, a bright yellow light emitted from his wand tip, and he sighed."I did it?" He said calmly.

Lenora looked to the young girl. "Yes it is Miss Fisher. It doesn't matter how big it is, all that matters is that you have the power to do that. Don't worry by the end of the school year, you will be able to do that. If you want I can help you practice to get better" Lenora suggested to the girl.

Vivian glanced at the other students as they did their spells. Shrugging, she attempted it as well, muttering a soft 'Lumos' before her wand instantly started shining. It was a small glimmer, admittedly, but it pleased her all the same.

"Professor?" she questioned, raising her glowing wand. "Metaphorically speaking, is it possible to make the light bigger without saying the words?" Vivian was honestly curious. Her father had once attempted to do spells without actually uttering the words but couldn't manage it.

Charlotte watched as the other first years cast the spell, most of them correctly, and lifted her wand. Easy spell, according to the book, she reminded herself. If she could cast all the others, she could cast this one, right?

"Lumos!" she said in louder tone, never having been one for shouting. The tip of her wand emitted a faint light, one that started growing gradually until it was shining brightly, though not as brightly as Sergiy's had been. After the light had disappeared, Charlotte looked up and smiled, thinking that it was certainly a good spell to know.
