Charms! Third Year

Finally, a class Chance was excited for. (besides flying, that is.) He pulled out his wand and found a seat at the front, leaning forward eagerly. Charms was actually something he was good at.

He pulled out his Charms book and started to flip through the pages, excited to start learning all the new spells. He decided he'd try to get ahead later tonight in his common room.

Casey skipped into Charms, tossing her things onto a desk and sliding into a chair. "Hi!" she chirped to the guy who was already there. "I'm Casey. I don't think I've met you before, what's you're name?"

Chance turned his head when the girl walked in and waved at her, a grin on his face.

"Hello there, my name's Chance! Funny we've never met, we're in the same house!" He eyed her curiously, wondering how they never ran into each other in the common room.

"Eh," Casey replied with a shrug. "I don't hang in the Common Room much. I go to Hufflepuff to hang out with my sister, or I'm wandering the castle for the fun of it, or I'm out on the pitch, flying." She became more aware of her American accent at times like these when she started using slang picked up from Michigan, and she blushed a bit for rambling on. "I'm sorry, I'm blabbing on."

Chance nodded as she spoke, seeming every bit interested in what she had to say.

"Ah, I love wandering the castle! And Flying? Huge fan. I'd not half bad at it, either," He said, spreading his hands open so she could see the many calluses he had from riding so often.

"Oh no, I don't mind babbling! It keeps me entertained. I can ramble on and on for hours, don't worry," Chance said with a cheeky grin, nudging her with his elbow.

Casey laughed, nudging him back. "I'm glad I amuse you," she said with a grin. "Are you on the Quidditch team? I just got on as a Chaser!"

Chance swung his feet back and forth, making scuffing sounds on the ground with his shoe.

"I just tried out for Seeker. I really didn't want to though. I'm not a competitive person. My friend Charlotte convinced me to do it... She hates Quidditch though, so I'm not quite sure why she wanted me to." He shrugged, then continued talking. "I really get annoyed at people who think they're so great because they play a sport, so I've always just tried to stay away from it because I didn't want to turn into one of those people. But hey, hopefully I make a good Seeker!" Chance chuckled and continued to swing his feet back and forth.

Talking about Quidditch really made him wish he was out on the field now, flying.

"Well you should play because you want to, not because someone else wants you to. And you're in luck, I am definitely not a jock. I don't think I'm cool because I can play Quidditch. I think I'm cool because I'm awesome!" She shot him a cheeky grin. "And I'm sure you'll be an excellent Seeker.

Chance shrugged. "She does influence me to do a lot of things but they're usually good. She's got a good head on her shoulders, even if most people think otherwise," he said slowly, picturing the girl in his head for a moment.

"Good, I don't think I could handle you if you were a jock!" He said with a laugh. His face then turned mock serious. "I'm sure you're not as awesome as I am Casey, sorry." He patted her arm as an apology, then laughed again. "And thanks, I'll definitely try my best!"

"Well still, make sure what you're doing makes you happy too, or else it's not worth it," Casey advised. "Being unhappy doing something she wants you to do is just pointless."

Casey mock punched him in the arm. "Hey! Just because I'm cooler doesn't mean you have to be in denial!"

Jamie walked into the class and saw only 2 people there. Jamie sighed with relief because her mom wasn't there yet. Jamie took a seat and saw one of the people here were Casey. She met her before they went on break. Jamie got out what she was going to need for charms class.

Alex walked into charms class and saw Jamie, Casey, and someone else. Alex walked over and sat next to Jamie. Alex waved at Casey and the boy and got out what she would need for the class. Alex was glad holidays were over.

Chance turned his head as the other girls entered, glad that more people were interested in Charms. He smiled at them and waved cheerfully, still turned around in his seat.

"Hello, I'm Chance!"

Casey smiled at the two girls as they walked in. "Hey Jamie, hey Alex? Did you two have good breaks? Mine was pretty quiet, especially with my sister." She grinned. "Did you do anything exciting?"

Lenora walked in and was happy that there was more then one student here then there was in her one class. Lenora walked to the front and looked at everyone. "Hello, I see a new face. I'm Lenora Malfoy, call me professor Malfoy. This lesson that we will be doing is Carpe Retractum. Can any of you tell me what it does" Lenora looked to her students.

Casey raised her hand, having just read about the spell in a book she'd picked up. "Carpe retractum is a defensive spell that takes whatever your opponent threw at you and regurgitates it, for lack of a better word, back at the caster. It's helpful when your opponent knows more advanced spells than you, as it allows you to perform the same magic."

Alexander staggers in. He got hit pretty hard in the head because of a hex gone awry. "he trips over a chair and falls crashing to the floor. he laughs slightly."im...ok...i think....i cant really remember heh heh"

Casey looked down at Alex, startled. "You know, you've got to stop seeing me all beat up. I'm starting to worry. Are you getting in fights of something? There's no way you trip that often. And what did they hit you with? You never laugh."

He giggles stupidly "i dunno...cant remember really...... all i know is i woke up by the lake and i managed my way here and found you..." he busts up laughing hystarically.

Casey sighed, looking at Alex lying on the floor giggling. She didn't have a way to reverse him. Sighing again, she raised her hand. "Professor? We have a problem..." She pointed to Alex.

He looks up at her with a glazed over look in the eye "i think they caused something to fall on me.... but im not sure so......" he gets up only to collapse on the floor again in a heap. small laugh

Lenora nodded. "Good, 15 points to Gryffindor" Lenora said. She was about to speak but a young boy walked in. She watched him start talking to her student. She grabbed her wand. "Okay, I'm going to do a simply spell that would put you back to your normal self" Lenora muttered a spell under her breath and it shot at the boy.

"Better" she asked him.

Alex coughs blushing. "much thank you madam..." he hangs his head hands trembling. his voice is quiet and his hair hangs his face hiding emotion "stupid deamon...why must you get me into fights....?" he sighs and slides into a seat and puts his face down on the desk. it was cool and felt nice. he felt really overheated. he had felt ill for a while. he was sure he was fine but then as he coughed he saw blood on the desk. he looks up at casey wondering what to do on the outside he was playing cool but on the inside he was terrified. what was heppening to him?

Casey sent a worried glance at Alex after he was healed. She looked around to the front of the classroom again, but whipped back around at a stab of pure terror in her veiw of emotions. She saw Alex coughing up blood onto his desk. "Professor!" she yelled in a panicked voice, leaping out of her desk to go to Alex's side. Her hands fluttered over him as she stood, uncertain of what to do. Her limited healing knowledge had nothing to do with this.

He wipes his mouth and looks down at his hand and one thought comes to his head 'whats going to happen to me?' he looks at casey and the professor freaking out his eyes are wide but he collects himself and looks at casey. "its not something you can heal really. people have tried. its been going on for weeks."
