Cloud Searching; Sixth Years

Uniforms? Peh, who needed them. Stretched out on her back by where the class met Yvette wore a black tank top and dark blue denim jeans along with her signature hat, boots, and whip. She was relaxed while at the same time alert to what was happening around her.

Whistling slightly the cowgirl looked at the clouds drifting about in the sky and began to form shapes in the clouds with her imagination. That one looked like a dog, that one like a flower, and that one... she swore that one looked like Ondrea's smiling face.

How did you even teach the introduction to NEWTs? Frowning down at her lesson plan, Marianne stuffed the parchment back into her robes as she walked down to where the class met. Sighing softly, she glanced upwards, enjoying the feeling of the sun against her skin. September had always been her favourite time of the year, but now she was just a bundle of nerves over whether she could be a good enough professor.

"Enjoying the view?" she asked pleasantly, pulling up by the lone student. Just like all her other classes. Magical Beings had been much more popular when she'd been a student. How much could change in four years?

"What is fun," Vette asked still looking at the sky. "When the one that you long for is the very one that does not notice your advances. Do you keep moving forward and risk rejection or do you fall back, lick your wounds, and move on." Her eyes looked wistfully at the cloud that looked like Drea.

Shaking her head she glanced over at the professor. "Sorry, was just thinking out loud again. So what are we doin' today?"

Tilting her head at her student's question, Marianne's expression grew sympathetic. She knew exactly how the sixth year felt. She'd had crushes on plenty of people who'd never noticed. Mostly because she hadn't let them, but it had still hurt to see them with someone else.

Caught up in her memories, she was only pulled out of them by the girl. "Sorry, sort of got distracted." Offering her a little smile, she brushed a strand of black hair out her eyes.

"Introduction to NEWTs. So, welcome." Marianne grinned for a moment, though it faded as the twenty-one year thought. "Did everyone else in your year fail their OWL?"

Twiddling her thumbs for a moment, she glanced down at the grass by their feet before looking back up. "About what you were saying earlier? From someone who's always loved from afar, I say you go for it. But what do I know?" The Head of Prideux shrugged.

Vette sighed and looked up at the clouds. How could she go for it when it was her best friend. Drea would never see her as anything more. She was doomed to a love that would never be reciprocated.

"So Newt level creatures. Anything you want me to study up on in advance or are we just gonna wing it since no one else bothered to continue at this level?" She smirked slightly and thought of how interesting this class could be.

Letting out a little laugh, Marianne grinned. "We could do that, couldn't we? Wing the whole year." Shaking her head at the idea, she settled down beside her student. The idea of winging the whole year was enticing, but at the same time she felt oddly terrified of getting into trouble for it.

"You're learning about Sphinxes next lesson, so if you want, you could study about those in advance. But if you don't have the time and have piles of homework in everything else, I'll still be here to teach you."

I'm just gonna declare this lesson done.
