    "MA!"

His shout was muffled against her shirt as he clung to her, small voice all but silent in the wake of crashing thunder. The rest of the house was dark, all but the light that would show from beneath the door of the bedroom. Sitting on the bed with her legs crossed, Karma calmly held Adrian in her lap, even as he cowered from every boom of thunder.

Liks had left on his own business a few hours ago, and she and Adrian had bonded over mac and cheese and ham sandwiches cut into small squares. He'd gotten the cheese all over his face, and bathtime had come until the thunder of a summer storm shocked him into fear. Now, with the blanket pulled over their heads and a solid Karma to chase his fears away, Baby Beda seemed to be calming just the slightest bit.

"Shh..." Running her fingers through his hair, Karma rocked slightly, making a silly face in an attempt to distract him. Adrian gave a happy giggle that turned into a scared whine at the next roll of thunder.

Biting her bottom lip, she rubbed his back and hummed in thought. She had had a phobia of lightning for a long time, and she understood where the child was coming from. "Silly Beda." She murmured, though her words were soothing. "There is nothing to be afraid of. Loud noises and Lights, silly little Adrian. Are you afraid of the gods in the clouds?"

Whimpering slightly, Adrian looked up at her, bright blue eyes shining. Nuzzling her nose against his and puffing out her cheeks, she smiled. "Don't you worry, little one, Ma and Da will fight off anything you're afraid of, until you're big and strong enough to fight them off yourself, just like your daddy."

Feliks had been annoyed by the flash storm to be sure. Of course there wasn't anything 'flash' about it, the hard-headed man had simply decided to ignore the warning signs. As far as he was concerned the weather was supposed to work on his schedule - it was nothing more the an annoyance that it seemed to believe otherwise.

An annoyance that he dealt with by completely ignoring it. So when he came trudging back into the house he was sopping wet. Looking down he frowned at the puddle he was leaving on the floor as if it was the first time he even noticed the water. What was a little water in the face of his own needs, missions and determination? It was nothing really. Now that he'd noticed it, however the soaked black material was became uncomfortable, chaffing against his skin. It fell to the floor with a plop as he pulled his feet out of his boots kicking them aside and began to fumble for his wand. He was about dry the rest of himself off by magic when a roll of thunder came and his ears picked up a familiar whimper, almost cry in its wake.

Immediately he was in motion, moving across the flat to the door of his room, pressing his hand to push it open, however he didn't get it more than a slight creak before the calming voice spoken to the child stopped him, instead. Smirking to himself, he listened to the voice and the responses his son made with a shake of his head. Another roll of thunder, softer than before - the storm was moving - sent him to an idea.

Turning away from the door, he wandered over to the instruments, running his hands over the strings slowly before settling on the piano instead. Cracking his knuckles he rolled his shoulders and took a moment to try and remember his lessons. It had been a longer time since he'd approached the thing, he was a little rusty. Placing his fingers on the keys, he closed his eye and finally just let muscle memory take over.

He smiled to himself as a familiar tune started to slowly take over the noise of the storm.

Adrian's hands stayed firmly curled in her - or well, Liksie's - shirt, but he perked up at the sound of the piano, recognizing that music usually meant either his mother or his father, and as she was currently trapped in his hold, he let out a happy "Da!" and tugged on Karma's shirt.

The young vampire also glanced up at the sound, though for a different reason. She hadn't heard him pay the piano in a long time, and the melody was familiar. Attention snapping back to her son, she smiled. "Wanna go see daddy?" She didn't need to wait for his agreement to flip the blankets off of them, bare legs automatically reacting to the chill. Her shorts weren't that long at all, and when she stood with Adrian it became apparent that if she wasn't holding him the shirt would cover the shorts completely. As it was, his added weight on her hip hiked up the fabric just a small bit, showing just a bit of the shorts beneath.

She paused in her walking to the door, holding a finger to her lips and winking. Adrian attempted to copy her motion, placing his whole hand over his lips, then giving a fumbling attempt to cover hers. Smiling, she slowly opened the door, leaning so that they could both peek in the direction of the piano. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness instantly, but was largely aided by the flashes of lightning through the bay window. Another crash of thunder - it was farther away, but with her hearing it might as well have been on top of them - and Adrian was hiding his face in her shoulder. She rubbed his back as she moved through the darkness, coming to a stop beside the piano and watching his fingers move across the keys.

A soft 'look' had Beda peeking up at his father, and then a smile grew across his lips. "Da!" he repeated, done with his sneaking game. He waved a fist excitedly, before plopping the thing into his mouth. Karma offered a smile, but her eyes were watching his hands, and wishing they could imitate the motions and make the music they could.

    "Welcome home, Liks."

After only a few moments his focus drifted entirely to his music and the majority of his brain had forgotten why he was doing it anyway. Trained since childhood on all instruments, the piano was the one he had started with, pounding away on keys with no instruction since he wasn't much older than Adrian. As he drifted away from music, part of him rebelling from everything that reminded him of his family, the piano had been the instrument her dropped the quickest. It was not until moments like these that he remembered how much he loved it - the delicate and moving notes that gentle brush if ivory keys could make.

Not even music though could distract him from his son. Pausing a moment at the initial "Da", smirking slightly to himself as the prolonged silence caused the boy to repeat the sound again, with more force, "Da-Da, Da!" The final Da causing the boy to lean further out of his mother's grasp and bat the soft hand against Felik's shoulder.

It was only then that Adrian looked up from his own hand moving across the keys to smile back at him.

"Adrian-Adrian, Adrian!" Reaching up his own hand, his other still playing the tune, he softly bonked the boy on the nose before placing his fingers back on the instrument and continuing his tune.

"Tyurma," he greeted with a raised eyebrow, meeting her gaze before going back to his playing, "Lovely weather, isn't it?"
