Charms, Lesson 4 - year 1

Lenora walked into her classroom and waited for her students to arrive. While she waited she looked over today's lesson again.

Alex walked into class and saw she was the only one there. "Hello professor" Alex greeted and sat down in a seat.

Jamie walked into Charms class to see her mother and Alex who she met earlier. Jamie sat down next to Alex. "Hello again Alex" Jamie flashed a quick smile to her and got out what she needed for the class.

J. J. walked into the classroom, slightly disappoint to know that this time she wouldn't find her mentor there this time, but there was nothing to be done about it.

She would just have to get used to the knew Professor's teaching style was all.

"Hello Profesor," she smiled taking a seat about halfway through the room. She noticed two slytherins were already there. She recoginized Jamie, but she didn't know the other girl. She must have been new.

Giving them one curious glance she proceeded to unpack her things.

"Hello room!" Aquila called as he entered the room and flopped into a chair. It was just another class in a string of classes but he was more than capable of pretending like it was the best class in the universe if that was what was required.

Flora walked into the room, relieved that she wasn't late.
She sat next to Aquila, "Hello Professor."

Lenora looked at her class "Hello everyone we will start with a simple charm" said Lenora using her wand to put bowls in front of her students. "Okay the charm we will being doing is aguamenti. Now you will pronounce it like ah-gwa-men-tie. Now you try" Lenora said to her class.

Alex picked up her wand and pointed it at the empty bowl on her desk. She cleared her throat. "Aguamenti" said Alex. Nothing happened. She tried it again "aguamenti" she said more clearly and water appeared in her bowl. She smiled at this.

Jamie picked up her wand and pointed it to the bowl. "Aguamenti" said Jamie as clearly as she could and nothing. Jamie sighed and tried again. "Aguamenti" said Jamie again and still nothing. Jamie was trying one more time before she gave up. "Aguamenti!" Jamie watched the water fill the bowl and smiled with satisfaction.

J. J. blinked as the Professor told them to try the spell; she had been told what to say but she hadn't been told what it was supposed to do. How was she supposed to do it correctly if she didn't know what the correct way was?

She glanced around and saw other students try it. They seemed to know... or maybe they were just doing it anyways.

She put her hand up, and as she did so she saw some student's bowls fill with water. Was that what they were supposed to be doing? It was quite possible, but she was already in the process of asking the question so she decided to continue. Nothing could be heart by knowing all the facts.

"Excuse me Professor, but you never said - What exactly is the spell supposed to do?"

"We're not going to be doing anything with it. This spell will teach you how to make water appear if you really need it".

J. J. nodded her head as she got the answer. So what she had saw was right, the bowl was supposed to fill with water.

Taking that into account it seemed like a simple spell.

She focused on the outcome she wanted - a bowl full of water and readied her wand.

She poured all her thoughts into this spell determined, just once to get a spell right on the first try. She just wanted to be able to say she did it.

"Aguamenti!"

She said her spell with command, and after looking at her bowl let out a sigh of relief.

No she hadn't filled the whole bowl, there was only a small amount pooling in the bottom - but it had taken only one shot.

Smiling she went about trying it again, filling the bowl to the rim with a little bit of practice.

Flora took out her wand. Okay, Aguamenti, fill with water.
"Aguamenti!" She commanded. Water came out in a huge spurt. Filling her bowl, overflowing onto her desk, and drenching her in the process.

"Er, sorry about that. What's the drying charm, Professor?" She said sheepishly.

Aquial frowned at the bowl in front of him. He had to fill it wiht water did he?

"Aguamenti!"

The bowl remained empty. No good - have to do it again.

He did it a few more times not really putting a whole lot of effort into it and just flicking his wand at the bowl. Nothing happened.

Sighing he decided he would actually have to try; he actually focused on what he wanted.

"Aguamenti!"

Some water trickled up in the bowl. He smiled.

That was more like it.

Lenora went over to Flora's desk and pointed her wand at the water on her desk. "Evanesco" the water disappeared. "Witches and Wizards make mistakes it's normal no need to apologize" said Lenora with a smile. She walked back to her desk.

Miles succesfully cast the spell, and the bowl filled with water, Miles was intrigued by this water charm, Miles raised his hand "Professor, is there any other water charms, perhaps one to freeze water so it turns to solid ice?" Miles anxiously waited for her response, hoping he didnt sound pretenious
